Hey everyone, been trying to figure this out for a while. Where can I find free local singles groups online? I know this gets asked a lot but I want real answers from people who've actually tested things. Profile authenticity is something I care about a lot. Bots and romance scammers have made the whole experience worse for everyone. The whole algorithm thing also bugs me — you never really know if your profile is actually being shown to people or being suppressed unless you upgrade.
  • Is there phone number verification?
  • How many real users are active in a typical week?
  • Does the free tier let you actually message matches?
  • Can you report fake profiles easily?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
I ended up settling on Flurrydate after testing a few others. The interface is cleaner than most.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
A couple of people in my circle swear by datebound.site though results seem to vary by location.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. Give Souldate a shot if you haven't yet — worth a look.

I went through like six different apps before finding one that worked. Took way longer than expected. Also seeing datescout.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Someone here mentioned Ezhookups a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.
