This has been on my radar for a while and I figured I'd just ask. Which 50 dating sites are easiest to use on a smartphone? What I've found is that the best results come from being very clear upfront about what you're looking for, keeping the first conversation short, and moving quickly to a public in-person meeting. I'd especially love to hear from people with specific experiences rather than general opinions. Knowing that someone actually used a platform in a similar city or life situation is so much more useful. Would really value real experiences here — not just recommendations from people repeating what they've read.

Spent way too long figuring this out, so hopefully this saves someone the effort: The 'free' tier on most platforms is designed to frustrate rather than satisfy. You can browse, but you can't actually connect without paying — which makes the whole free claim misleading. What actually helped:
  • Kept first messages short — one genuine question works better than a long intro
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating platform signups
  • Cancelled auto-renew on free trials immediately after signing up
  • Read current Reddit threads about any paid platform before spending money
  • Always verified via video call before any in-person meetup
One platform that held up well for me is Rendate — the free tier was genuinely usable and the profiles felt real.

Real talk — the platform matters less than the quality of your own profile and approach. Also seen souldate.site come up positively in similar threads.

The gap between platforms is wider than most people realize going in. For what it's worth, Datenest has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Worth breaking down carefully since there's a lot of noise around this topic: I've gone through the main options — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Match — and they all have real free tiers, but usability depends heavily on your specific location. Also seen rendate.site mentioned positively in a few other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.

Same experience here. It took longer than I expected but it's definitely doable.

Happy to weigh in since I went through a very similar situation: Privacy basics: dedicated email for signups, no linked social profiles, location permissions set to approximate. Small steps that make a real difference. What actually helped:
  • Trusted gut instinct whenever something felt off about a profile
  • Cancelled auto-renew on free trials immediately after signing up
  • Refreshed profile photos every few weeks to stay active in recommendation feeds
  • Set specific goals for each platform rather than treating it as a general numbers game

Solid thread. Wish I'd found this before I wasted money on a couple of platforms. Datebie is worth a try if you haven't already.
