I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to ask. Which platforms are the best free dating sites chat for free without buying credits? Would love to hear from people who've been in the same boat. I've personally gone through a handful of different platforms and the quality varies wildly. Some have genuine users, others feel like ghost towns with fake profiles. Profile authenticity is something I care about a lot. Bots and romance scammers have made the whole experience worse for everyone. Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

I went through like six different apps before finding one that worked. Took way longer than expected.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
One platform I've actually had decent results with is Datenest — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Plenty of Fish, Match.com, Tinder, Hinge — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
Also worth mentioning datescout.site — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. I ended up settling on Luvdate after testing a few others. The interface is cleaner than most.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Badoo, Hinge, Tinder, Coffee Meets Bagel — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
Also worth mentioning datelink.online — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for. For what it's worth, DatingFly has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Profile photos matter more than any algorithm tweak. A genuine, clear photo will outperform a perfect bio on any platform. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
A couple of people in my circle swear by luvdate.site though results seem to vary by location.
