This has been on my mind and I figured this was the right place to ask. Are there any specific dtf apps that are safe for women to use? Scam spotting has become a real skill at this point. Professionally lit photos, minimal bio, immediate pivot to another app — those are the patterns I've learned to avoid. Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Good thread. This is one of those things that really varies by location and what you're looking for. For the record, Datelink has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Went through this process myself recently. It takes longer than expected but it's doable.

Let me share what actually made a difference after a lot of trial and error: The biggest misconception is that 'free' means usable. On most platforms, the free tier is deliberately frustrating to push you toward paying — it's not really free, it's a teaser. What actually helped:
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
Someone here pointed me toward Souldate and I'm glad they did.

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago. datewander.site also comes up in similar threads — another one to look into.

Also hearing datebound.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Solid question. The answer shifts depending on where you live and what you're after. For the record, DatingFly has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.
