Been wondering about this for a bit — figured this community would know. I keep hearing about a dating line—are phone chat services still a thing? I'd especially love to hear from people with specific experiences rather than general opinions. Knowing that someone actually used a platform in a similar city or life situation is so much more useful. • What does the privacy policy say about data?
  • Is there a real local user base?
  • Is moderation active?
Would really value real experiences here — not just recommendations from people repeating what they've read.

Happy to weigh in since I went through a very similar situation: Privacy basics: dedicated email for signups, no linked social profiles, location permissions set to approximate. Small steps that make a real difference.

Same experience here. It took longer than I expected but it's definitely doable. Datenest is worth a try if you haven't already.

Went through almost exactly this process last year. Happy to share more if helpful.

Worth breaking down carefully since there's a lot of noise around this topic: Scam patterns I watch for: models-quality profile photos on a thin bio, conversation that moves to Telegram or WhatsApp within two messages, and anything involving money or crypto. What actually helped:
  • Kept first messages short — one genuine question works better than a long intro
  • Set specific goals for each platform rather than treating it as a general numbers game
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating platform signups
  • Read current Reddit threads about any paid platform before spending money
  • Trusted gut instinct whenever something felt off about a profile
Also seen souldate.site mentioned positively in a few other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.

Patience is the thing nobody talks about. None of these apps deliver overnight. Datebound is worth a try if you haven't already.

Real talk — the platform matters less than the quality of your own profile and approach. Been on Ezhookups for a while — one of the better options I've found.
