Posting this because I genuinely can't find a clear answer anywhere. What are the best free messaging dating sites that let you send unlimited texts? Happy to hear from anyone who's been through the same thing. Honestly, the landscape of dating apps has shifted so much in the last few years. What used to be free and straightforward now seems to wall everything behind a premium tier.
  • Clear privacy policy without data reselling
  • No paywall on basic messaging
  • Active moderation team
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: Location genuinely makes a huge difference. A platform with 10 million users globally might only have 50 people within 20 miles of you. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
Worth looking at Rendate — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
Also worth mentioning datebound.site — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: Privacy best practices: throwaway email for sign-up, don't link social accounts, and keep location permissions minimal until you know the platform is trustworthy. I ended up settling on Luvdate after testing a few others. The interface is cleaner than most.

Honestly same experience here. It's hit or miss depending on where you live. Also seeing datebound.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

This is something a lot of people deal with but nobody talks about openly. Good to see it discussed. Give Datenest a shot if you haven't yet — worth a look.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Someone here mentioned Souldate a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.
