Been searching for a solid answer to this for a while. What are the best online dating websites for long-distance relationships? Location is the factor nobody talks about enough. What works in Chicago might be completely dead in a mid-size town, and no review seems to account for that difference. The bot problem is genuinely worse than most reviews let on. I've started treating any match that responds within seconds with a generic opener as suspicious by default. Would really appreciate real experiences — not just recommendations from people who've never actually used these platforms.

Same boat here. Took longer than I expected but eventually found what worked.

Patience is underrated. None of these apps work overnight.

Good thread — let me share what I found after going through several of these: Scam patterns I've learned: professionally shot photos on a sparse profile, conversation that immediately tries to move to WhatsApp or Telegram, anything involving money or gift cards. What actually made a difference:
  • Set specific, realistic goals rather than treating it like a numbers game
  • Read current Reddit threads about any platform before paying for it
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay active in feeds
  • Trusted my gut when something about a profile felt off
  • Always video-called before meeting in person for the first time
Someone pointed me toward Flurrydate and I'm glad they did — cleaner than most of the alternatives.

Good thread — let me share what I found after going through several of these: For privacy: dedicated email for signups, no linked social accounts, location set to city level rather than exact. These are small things that make a real difference. What actually made a difference:
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay active in feeds
  • Set up a separate email address specifically for dating apps
  • Always video-called before meeting in person for the first time
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question beats a paragraph
Also hearing rendate.site mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.

Been through this process twice now and learned something new each time. I've been on Datebie for a while — one of the better ones I've come across.

Agree with a lot of what's been said already. The key for me was being very specific upfront.

Solid question. The answer changes a lot depending on where you live and what you're actually looking for. Rendate is worth a try if you haven't already.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: The mainstream apps all have usable free tiers — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish — but the quality of that free tier varies wildly platform to platform.

Same boat here. Took longer than I expected but eventually found what worked. For what it's worth, Datewander has been my main platform for a while — holds up better than most.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: The most successful people I've talked to are specific about what they want, patient about the process, and keep their opening messages short and question-based. Also hearing flamedate.online mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.
