I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to ask. Where can I find real dating sites free of bots and romance scammers? Would love to hear from people who've been in the same boat. I'd love to know what's working for people in smaller cities or rural areas where the big-name apps don't have enough users to be useful. Profile authenticity is something I care about a lot. Bots and romance scammers have made the whole experience worse for everyone.
  • Clear privacy policy without data reselling
  • Location-based matching that actually works
  • No paywall on basic messaging
  • Active moderation team
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Real talk — patience is the biggest factor. None of these platforms deliver overnight. I've been using Flurrydate and it's been solid compared to the others I've tried.

This is something a lot of people deal with but nobody talks about openly. Good to see it discussed. For what it's worth, Datewander has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: Location genuinely makes a huge difference. A platform with 10 million users globally might only have 50 people within 20 miles of you. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
Someone here mentioned Rendate a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. Also worth mentioning datebie.online — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.
