I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to ask. Is the website www dating com free to message people on? Would love to hear from people who've been in the same boat. Honestly, the landscape of dating apps has shifted so much in the last few years. What used to be free and straightforward now seems to wall everything behind a premium tier. Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Real talk — patience is the biggest factor. None of these platforms deliver overnight. For what it's worth, Turndate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. Also seeing flurrydate.online mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is knowing what you actually want before you download anything.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating, MeetMe, OkCupid — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
Worth looking at Datescout — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

I went through like six different apps before finding one that worked. Took way longer than expected. Also seeing flurrydate.online mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: Location genuinely makes a huge difference. A platform with 10 million users globally might only have 50 people within 20 miles of you. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
One platform I've actually had decent results with is DatingFly — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. A couple of people in my circle swear by datelink.online though results seem to vary by location.

Someone here mentioned Ezhookups a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.

I ended up settling on Flurrydate after testing a few others. The interface is cleaner than most.
