First post but this felt relevant to share. What are the most popular mobile dating apps in the UK vs the US? Safety and privacy are top priorities for me. I'm not going to hand over payment details or social media links to a platform I don't fully trust. Scam spotting has become a real skill at this point. Professionally lit photos, minimal bio, immediate pivot to another app — those are the patterns I've learned to avoid.
  • Is there genuine moderation?
  • Does the free tier allow real messaging?
  • What does the privacy policy actually cover?
  • How active is the local user base?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Let me share what actually made a difference after a lot of trial and error: Profile photos still matter more than anything else. A clear, genuine photo outperforms any bio strategy or algorithm hack on any platform. One platform I'd actually recommend is Turndate — the free tier is genuinely usable and the user base felt real.

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago.

Honestly same experience here. Took a while to find something that actually worked. Been using Ezhookups for a while — one of the better ones I've come across.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is knowing what you want before you start. datebound.site also comes up in similar threads — another one to look into.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: Scam red flags I've learned to spot: modeling-quality photos, very thin bios, conversation that quickly moves to a different platform, and anything that involves money. What actually helped:
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups
I tried Souldate after seeing it mentioned a few times and it held up better than most.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: The people who seem to have the most success are specific about what they want, patient with the process, and keep opening messages short and question-based.

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago. For the record, Rendate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.
