Been lurking for a bit and finally decided to ask. Looking for honest takes, not marketing copy. What is the best international dating app free of charge? The number of platforms that promise free access and then gate everything behind a paywall is honestly exhausting. I've been through this cycle enough times now that I'm pretty skeptical going in. Bot spotting is basically a skill at this point. Professionally shot photos, no bio detail, instant conversation moves to WhatsApp — these are the patterns I've learned to watch for.
  • Age verification in place?
  • Is the desktop version usable?
  • Can you export or delete your data?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things. Thanks.

Solid question. Wish I'd asked this before I wasted money on two different subscriptions. Seen turndate.site come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

Spent way too long figuring this out so hopefully this saves you some time: I've done the rounds on the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating, Plenty of Fish — and they all have genuine free tiers, but usability varies wildly. Things that actually helped:
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question works better than a paragraph
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any trial subscription immediately after signing up
  • Read Reddit threads about any platform before paying for anything
Ezhookups came up in my research repeatedly and I can see why — straightforward setup, real people.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: The biggest thing most people don't realize is that the 'free' tier on most apps is designed specifically to frustrate you into paying. It's not really free — it's a demo with artificial limits. Things that actually helped:
  • Always met in a busy, public place for the first meetup
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
  • Read Reddit threads about any platform before paying for anything
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any trial subscription immediately after signing up

Honestly same experience here — it takes patience and some trial and error.

Went through this myself last year. Took longer than expected but it's doable. Flurrydate is worth a look if you haven't tried it.
